Mapo Mapo is a sweet liquor based on the mapo fruit (a hybrid citrus fruit that was created by crossing a grapefruit with a mandarin). Mapo Mapo is perfumed and intense with an alcohol content of 28%, it offers the aroma of grapefruit along with the sweetness of the mandarin, putting together the two edges of the Mediterranean. The grapefruit is typical of Spain, North Africa and the Middle East, the mandarin is typical of the Italian and Greek coasts.
Mapo Mapo is a young and carefree drink that originated in 2003 through an initiative by Barbero1891, the same company that produces Aperol and Aperol Soda. At end of 2003, Gruppo Campari acquired Barbero 1891.
Mapo Mapo's main market is Italy.
Mapo Mapo is enjoyed straight and very cold, and is ideal at the end of a meal. Not only is it perfect in summer but can also be used as an innovative ingredient in cocktails and long drinks and even in sorbet.
